Frequently Asked Questions
| General |
How does this service work? |
Basically, V2VIP offers two types of calling options which are video to video and an emerging new technology called Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The video calls are transmitted over the broadband Internet connection (Cable Modem or DSL) to other V2VIP subscribers that have a video phone or a video softphone.
The VoIP options enable the caller to use either the video phone, video softphone or Analog Terminal Adapter, with a standard touch-tone telephone connected to it, to make calls over their high-speed Internet connection. V2VIP converts the analog phone call into data that is sent over the Internet to a regular telephone which is then converted back into a traditional analog phone call. |
What is VoIP? |
It means Voice over Internet Protocol. VoIP is a new way to make and receive telephone calls. Its a technology that enables your voice conversations to be carried or transmitted over a broadband Internet connection and is directed to a traditional or regular telephone line. |
Why are V2VIP Video Calling Plans more affordable? |
Compare the price of our H.264 video phones with other products on the market that use similar or lower quality H.263 video codecs. Consider the advanced features of our video phones and the variety of options available with our Calling Plans. Factor in the long-term contracts or commitment, and/or include the penalties for early termination of other providers. Our SIX (6) MONTH Early Termination Fee is $99.00 and only $49.00 after that. Add those numbers together and youll see why V2VIP provides the best Value and Variety.
Our V2VIP SoftChat video phone supports features that are not available with other free video softphones. |
Are there other charges besides the monthly Calling Plan fee? |
Yes, federal, state, county and local governments may assess taxes, surcharges and/or fees on use of the V2VIP Services. These charges may be a flat fee or a percentage of the V2VIP charges and may change from time to time without notice and are based on the rates applicable to the address provided to WCCI. Theres a Universal Service Fund monthly fee mandated by the FCC. New York state residents will pay a one-time tax on the products. |
Do the International rates apply to overseas video calls? |
