What equipment is required to use the V2VIP Calling Plan options?

The GXV-3000 IP video phone (order at the V2VIP Sign-up page), and a high-speed, broadband Internet (DSL, cable modem) connection.. If the DSL or cable modem has only one ethernet port (connection), which is used by a computer, then a low-cost home router or switch is needed so multiple IP devices can share the single connection. It’s recommended to have a minimum of 128Kbps upload and download capacity

Where can I make video calls to?

Worldwide, unlimited in-the-network IP video calls to other V2VIP subscribers are provided with all of the V2VIP video phone (GXV-3000, SoftChat) service plans.

What's an IP call?

This is a call that’s transmitted over Internet Protocol that does not use or depend on the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) to deliver the voice and video call to the other party.

Can the GXV-3000 video phone be used for regular telephone calls?

Yes, if the end-user subscribes to either the Basic Plan which allows for outgoing calls only, to traditional telephones or the Premium Plan which features both incoming and outgoing calls.

  • For local calls dial the seven-digit number and for long-distance calls dial the ten-digit number.
  • For the Premium Plan it’s possible to select an area code in another city or frequently called location so friends and family would only be making a local call.
  • Both plans feature unlimited local and long-distance calling to the US and Canada.

Note: for the Basic Plan it is recommended to keep your existing phone service for incoming calls.

What number(s) are dialed for a video call?

A seven or eight digit (i.e. 10011122) number, which is used for video calls only, will be provided to each subscriber after the Sign-up process.
